  • 360insights 
    • One of Canada's fastest growing technology companies 
    • Multi-million dollar transformation of a nearly century old school house into their global headquarters. Opened in 2017. 
    • Named #1 best place to work in Canada by Great Place To Work Institute.  
  • Flanagan Food Services
    • Canada's largest independent food service distributor
    • $20M investment into a 100,000 square-foot distribution centre to service parts of the GTA and Eastern Ontario 
    • Expected to create over 100 local jobs 
  • GO Transit East Rail Maintenance Facility:
    • $859M investment in a maintenance, repair and storage facility for the GO commuter train network.
    • Created between 300-400 full time jobs, primarily skilled trades and management positions.

Recreational/Commercial Attractions: 

  • iFLY - Whitby 
    • Canada's third indoor skydiving facility - 11,000 square-foot facility with large indoor wind tunnels to simulate a skydiving experience. 
    • Expected to attract over 60,000 visitors annually 
    • The facility opened in February 2018
  • Reptilia 
    • Canada's largest reptile zoo attraction - 61,000 square-foot facility with more than 250 reptiles, amphibians and arachnids, as well as a 5,000 square-foot playground for children.
    • Opening in June 2018 
  • Nordik Spa - Nature 
    • Award-winning Scandinavian nature spa. Spa features include thermal baths, saunas, massage/body treatments, as well as a restaurant and lounge. 
    • Opening in Summer 2019 and expected to attract more than 100,000 visitors annually 
  • Laser Quest
    • Indoor laser tag facility offering games for children and adults opened in 2015.
  • SkyZone Trampoline Park, indoor recreation facility
    • In July 2015, SkyZone opened a brand new 34,500 sq.ft. trampoline facility that combines sports, fitness and entertainment.

  • Promotional Products Fulfillment and Distribution (PPFD)
    • In Spring 2016, PPFD undertook a major expansion of its state-of-the-art warehouse facility. 
    • Company specializes in providing warehouse management, marketing services and customer relationship management for a diverse client base.
  • Candevcon Limited
    • Professional engineering and planning services firm set up an office in 2015.
  • Devry Smith Frank LLP
    • Full-service law firm based in Toronto established an office in Whitby in 2015 to service clients in Durham Region.
  • Noa Fisheries
    • Fish farm established in Whitby in 2015.
    • Company specializes in fish-farming of tilapia and also offers courses in aquaponics.
  • Geekspeak
    • An e-commerce company, Geekspeak set up its head office in Downtown Whitby in 2015.
    • Company specializes in e-commerce product content, product photography, content SEO and catalogue management.
  • Cam-Scott Transport Ltd., truck transportation:
    • In 2014, Cam-Scott relocated its business headquarters to Whitby.
    • A fleet of trucks delivers fresh, frozen and dry goods throughout the United States from the Atlantic Ocean to the Rocky Mountains.
  • Durham College Centre for Food:
    • The 36,000 sq. ft. facility opened in September 2013. It includes teaching classrooms, kitchens and a full-service green-certified restaurant, Bistro '67, which is open to the public.
    • After opening, the facility has been expanded, with the addition of several greenhouses, an orchard, agriculture planting and demonstrator gardens.
